Small Works
By aleshafowlie
I did this painting after looking at a photo a friend of mine took of my daughter. I thought she looked like a maiden from an old story, and I loved the romantic feel of it it conveyed.
So I didn't mind too much when the acrylic varnish I used created a tarnished finish on the metal leaf I applied in the background. I grabbed the wrong bottle, mineral spirit varnish doesn't diminish the shine. So the picture now has an aged look,[ happened after I took the photo!]
If you want to see this painting in person, I have it in the Small Works show at the Victoria Art Gallery. It will be up until August or until someone buys it-thats right, you can purchase these little paintings and take them home right away!
